WORSHIP
Perhaps nothing we do is more important than worshipping God. As such, worship is a high priority at SGC. We devote a significant portion of every corporate gathering to it. Our worship style might best be described as contemporary and enthusiastic. At times there will be clapping, dancing, hands raised in the air toward God; at other times, it will be quiet and reflective. Sometimes we are ministering to the Lord, sometimes He is ministering to us through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as prophecy. But we desire to spend as much time together in His presence as possible.
QUEST
So, what is Quest? The dictionary defines a Quest as an adventure, a journey with a specific goal and purpose. Quest is also a new kind of Youth Ministry. One that fully embraces the biblical mandate for parental responsibility, while at the same time providing opportunities for parents and teens to enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie of other Christian families traveling the same road. It's not a " drop off my teen for the youth pastor to straighten out " kind of ministry. It is geared to bring parents and teens together in the way God has in mind. Quest meets at least twice a month, sometimes more. We also plan regular outings, retreats, and seminars during the year. more »
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
At SGC, we love children. And we had better; almost 50% of our church population are kids. Children factor heavily in the planning of everything we do. We've sometimes wondered if we shouldn't change our motto to: "Be fruitful and multiply." During the Sunday service, we keep the kids with their parents during the worship, offering, and announcements. Then we take a short break before the message to allow parents to escort their children to the various ministry classes divided by age. Once there, they are cared for not by paid professionals but by loving church members, mostly parents, but also by some of our more gifted and enthusiastic singles. We also plan a number of big events in the year especially for kids, like our annual Fall Festival and Christmas play.
